Methods of Training

Intensity and Progression

Many of us were raised on the idea that "the more you put in, the more you get out." This concept that dedicating more time to something will improve results is absolutely valid when applied to many things in life. Weight training is not one of them! You may be very relieved to know that you can totally transform your body in as little as two hours per week! Exercise should add vitality to our lives rather than strip us of energy. Excessive training leaves the body in a constant state of depletion in which it never completely recovers from the last workout, often leading to sickness and injury. Spending hour after hour in the gym is not only unnecessary but counter-productive. It is the intensity of the workout rather than the duration that is the primary factor in acheiving your fitness goals. Most of us have no idea what we are actually capable of. We perform at a mere fraction of our true potential. When we learn to tap our inner resources we begin to feel our bodies "come to life." Our workouts become much more effective. We become more efficient. That is why finding a realistic, balanced approach to training is critical.
